I help you feel safe to express all the emotions about your diagnosis – the good, the bad, and the ugly. I provide emotional support while guiding you to embrace acceptance, make meaning, and to find new purpose in your suffering. I help you to be authentic in your emotions, to dig deep for inner strength, and reach out for support. We will face the new landscape of your life together.

For three years, I worked with many individuals with many types of cancer diagnoses and treatment plans at the Robert and Carol Weissman Cancer Center at Cleveland Clinic Martin Health, helping them to navigate the highly emotional state of being diagnosed with cancer, undergoing life-altering treatments, and living their best life while trying to manage the fear of recurrence.

Individual psychotherapy for caregivers

Has your precious spouse, partner, family member, or friend been diagnosed with cancer? Do you want to help but are not sure how? Are you afraid of saying or doing the wrong thing? Do you feel like avoiding the subject altogether? If you are you experiencing these feelings, then you would benefit from receiving psychotherapy for caregivers with me.

  • fear of losing your loved one

  • fear of being alone

  • angry that cancer came into your life

  • not knowing how to help

  • fear of not being emotionally strong enough

  • fear of financial devastation

  • fear of looking scared in front of your loved one

  • sadness over the loss of your dreams and future plans

Your whole life changed when you learned of your loved one’s cancer diagnosis. You felt shocked, terrified, helpless, and maybe even angry. You quietly wondered how you were going to show support without showing fear. You wondered how you were going to stay hopeful and optimistic. You wondered how you would be able to pay the bills. You questioned your own ability (or desire) to be a caregiver.

This isn’t how you expected life to turn out.

I help you feel safe to give voice to your fears, your disappointments, your anxieties, your anger, your hopes. You have permission to talk about all of it - the good, the bad, and the ugly. I provide a therapeutic space for you to be authentic and be heard without judgment. I help you cultivate hope, acceptance, connection, compassion, and tenderness to learn to enjoy each day as it comes in the new landscape of your life.

For three years, I worked very closely with individual family members and caregiver support groups at the Robert and Carol Weissman Cancer Center at Cleveland Clinic Martin Health facilitating general process groups, psychoeducation groups, and survivorship lecture series on many topics concerning diagnosis, treatment, and living your best life in the aftermath of cancer.

When you pass through the waters,
I will be with you;
and when you pass through the rivers,
they will not sweep over you.
When you walk through the fire,
you will not be burned;
the flames will not set you ablaze. Isaiah 43:2
